    Lindsay Gibson

Lindsay C. Gibson, PsyD, is The New York Times and Amazon #1 best-selling author of Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: How to Heal from Distant, Rejecting, or Self-Involved Parents (New Harbinger, 2015). With over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist and psychdiagnostician, Dr. Gibson identified that many clients’ anxiety, obsessions, and depression stemmed from distorted beliefs and emotional coercion imposed by emotionally immature parents. She observed that while these parents might not fall into severe mental health categories, their emotional immaturity had profoundly damaging effects on their children.

Dr. Gibson currently works as a clinical psychologist in private practice. In her latest book Treating Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: A Clinician’s Guide (New Harbinger, 2024) she shares what therapists need to know to provide the most effective interventions for these clients.

Yes! You’ll learn how to work with anxious, avoidant, and disorganized attachment patterns in real-life therapy—helping clients develop self-trust, improve relationships, and find internal safety, often for the first time.

Great question! You’ll receive an exclusive displayable certificate of completion when you finish this course.

A certificate is a document issued upon completion of a training program. Certification on the other hand often requires you to meet specific standards, pass rigorous exams, and many even include additional practice, consultation, supervision, evaluations, and ongoing continuing education requirements. While you will need to pass an exam, this course does not include many of these elements — making this a "certificate" program.

This certificate does distinguish you as a professional who has trained more extensively in this area…and it's an acknowledgment that can set you apart in the eyes of clients.
